Thanks for your comments :)
I decided to color the green dress pic with a different technique, as an experiment. The finalk color scheme will look like what the prelim pic looks like, but I am using an underpainting technique to create the value scale and depict the form. Here is a peek at the work in progress:

The shading looks cool, kosso. Are you using layers set to multiply for color overlays? I'm going to have to follow this one to see the progression, or pester you into a description of what you'll try. ;) Thanks.

Yes, I am working in layers, with the final color going over the top of the B&W base layer. The technique is very similar to the technique I use for oil paintings (except the base colors there are white, burnt sienna and burnt umber, as those work to give you a warmer tone overall). The nice thing about working digitally is I can play the the colors a lot easier, either by adjusting hue and saturation or by fooling around with how the layers interact.
I hope to get more done on this one over the weekend.

Here are a few more sketches... didn't get far enough along on the coloring to bother to post an updated pic of that. I can crank out a lot of sketches, but I have to be in the mood to color, which means it goes slowly :)
This first one is a sketch for a painting I am thinking about doing.. probably do several more sketches to play with the composition and some of the details.

The next couple are just some sketches.. NN or even non-human LOL. I do a lot of fantasy/SciFi stuff, simply because I like doing it.
