I have been trying new image hosts, and no matter which one I
use, I get the same result; an error message that states
"You cannot use that file extension". I have been copying
and pasting the link into the box, and I have also tried typing
the link into the box. Sometimes I don't get the error message, but then I get a "red x".
Thank you for any help you can give me getting my images posted.

when you post a link to an image using the insert image function, you must have a .jpg .gif or .png as part of the url. most imagehosts no longer directly associate the uploaded filename with the hosted image, instead generating a numbered page link. the best thing you can do is use the embedding codes that the file is generated with, or if not that then just post a URL link to the page with the image on it.
www.imagehost.com/user/example1.jpg - would work using the insert image option in this forum. www.imagehost.com/user/12345 - would not.
use the BB-code in the case of the second. it is usually generated after the first upload. A good image host to use that generates BB-code is imagebam.com
simply copy and paste the BBcode into the message, you do not have to click the insert image button, the code does that automatically.
