I mentioned a while back that I would be throwing my hat in for this contest, but it took me a while to get my partner to sign up for the website. The team will be me (Karmagik) on art and him (Just Bow Down) on the words. We've actually been working on this for a little while now. Talking several times and emailing frequently. I've done some character sketches, and we've gone through a couple versions of the script already. I just wanted to make it official and post our progress thread tonight!

Anyway, for those who are interested, I thought I'd give at least a rough idea of our comic, without giving anything away. Its a lot less "out there" than a lot of the other Sci Fi stories that are floating around. The takes place entirely in a virtual world, and our main character, Selick Jones, is a Virtual Investigator. I don't want to get into what all he does or where the story takes him, but its sort of a mix between Sci-Fi shows, Pulp Detective comics, and hardcore porno! There is gonna be a lot of action, and by action, I mean sex! Because, with all great advancements in technology, there is one question that is always asked, "How can I use this to get off?"

I might try to see what sort of sketches I can post here that don't give anything away.

That sounds like a fantastic premise. A real gold mine for JBD to work with. Sounds like this should be an entire comic series when you get done! I can't wait to see the sketches!

Thanks Darth and Sinope, I hope you enjoy what we've come up with. karmagik's pages look great, I can't wait till we have the whole thing finished... speaking of which, I'm supposed to be reviewing breakdowns and making notes and instead I've been reading post on the forum for the last hour or two. doh!

Must not slow down. If I slow down, I'll get distracted and fail to finish. I really want this one to be in color, unlike the last contest where I barely finished all the inks in time.

Anyway, as far as updates go, here's whats shaking. We've got all the page breakdowns like we want them. Made a few changes based on some ideas the both of us had back and forth and got them right. I've emailed the first page inked to JBD, I've penciled page two and I'm going to start work on penciling page three today.

So, I said a little while ago I may post a sketch of our main character. Well here is Selick Jones, or at least one of the original sketches of him. This pic has absolutely nothing to do with our story, but the character design hasn't really changed much. So, this is pretty much how he'll appear in the comic. This isn't nearly as good as some of the stuff I'm putting in the comic. Anyway, thought someone may get a kick out of it.

I'm liking it!!! He's got muscles, and machismo to spread around!!! The Adventures of Selick Jones!!! Reminds me of the old sci-fi serials!!! You have some potential of defeating us, but not much!!!

When JBD said the main dude's name was Selick, I said that dude has got to rock the 'stache!

Anyway, I thought I'd give an update. First of all, I have to say, the art in this comic is going to be WAY better than that sketch. I have actually surprised myself on several occasions so far, I thinks this is going to easily be my best artwork to date. That being said, here's the actual status. The comic will be ten pages long, and if we have time, we will make a cover type page as well. I've finished inking the first 3 pages and I've finished pencils up thru page 6. I've already started up on the next page as well. JBD is working on the flat colors while I finish up the drawing and inking. Depending on how things work out with him, he may try to do final colors, but I also may end up doing the highlighting. That's still to be determined.
