Another innovator that had a style most imitated and actually most would criticize but definetly all would admire died from cancer yesterday. Shooting up in the ranks rather fast with Marc Silverstri on the detective/fantasy comic book Witchblade. Then followed up wth one of the most detailed art filled pages in comics history, Fathom. Fathom was a comic anybody could pick up and admire, for Mike's level of detail, awe inspiring beautiful women and sci-fi fantasy.

Here's a section i took from from Newsarama:
Turner is an artist best known for his work on books like “Witchblade,” where he got his start in comics, moving on to titles such as “Black Panther,” “Superman/Batman” and his very own creator owned series “Fathom” and “Soulfire” through his publishing company Aspen Comics. A prolific artist, he’s done work for both DC Comics and Marvel Comics, and has provided covers to some of the best-known comics published in the last ten years, including Brad Meltzer’s “Identity Crisis.”

Another from CBR:
Artist Michael Turner has died after a long battle with cancer. He was 37. Aspen Comics’ Vince Hernandez told CBR News Saturday morning that Turner passed away Friday night at 10:42 Pacific Time at Santa Monica Hospital in Calfiornia. The news spread quickly at Wizard World Chicago, during what would have otherwise been a riotous night at the hotel bar, the mood suddenly turned somber with remembrances of Turner from friends and acquaintances. A minute of silence will be observed during Wizard World Chicago Saturday afternoon.

Yeah, it really surprised me to hear this, because I hadn't read a report about him in a while, and last I had heard his cancer was in remission. This really is a tragedy.

Shocking and shitty. He definitly was/is one of my favorite artist. Such amazing work. I remember picking up the 1st issue of Witchblade and being blown away by his work.

Way too young. I always admired the level of detail he was able to put into his work, while still keeping it "real" (good anatomy, excellent backgrounds, etc). He will be missed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Michael Turner at Toy Fair in NYC a long way back...He was one hell of a nice guy, and a great artist...37 years old...Damn that's just not right when people like him who bring joy to so many lives is taken from us, and people who cause' pain and suffering are alowed to endure.

Turner was coolness in a stainless-steel pencil-case.
As porn-cartoon artists and lovers, we should commerate him in our own special way...

Aspen-characters related porn images. I think we should find em, make em... and just post em here
