2. Pyre:
Nobody would listen to me. Everyone tried to stop Radon by themselves. And when he managed to hurt Jim—Versipellis...
Panel 3
Flashback to the fight. Singe is attacking Radon, her hands crackling with electricity. Versipellis is unconscious in the background.

Panel 5
Jane embraces her son. The wind is picking up.
5. Jane:
It's all right, John.

Page 4
Panel 1
Pyre notices the wind.
1. Pyre:
Where's that wind coming from?
Panel 2
Pyre and Jane both turn in shock at something – we're seeing them from the perspective of whatever they're looking at.
2. SFX:
Shrripp!!
Panel 3
Splash panel. We're behind Pyre & Jane now, and see what they see. The air has been torn asunder, and from the extradimensional rift, a woman has emerged. It's Tempora. The wind has picked up to nearly gale force now.

Page 5
Panel 1
Pyre's nearly speechless.
1. Pyre:
You— I know you!

Call me Tempora.

3. Jane:
What do you want?
Panel 4
Tempora is absolutely calm and composed.
4. Tempora:
I'm here to help your son regain his confidence and sense of purpose. It's vital that he remain with the Union of Heroes.
Panel 5
Pyre is confused.
5. Pyre:
Why?

Page 6
Panel 1
The wind is picking up again.
1. Tempora:
It would be easier to show you.
Panel 2
The rift has reopened behind Tempora.
2. SFX:
Shrripp!
3. Tempora:
Besides, I doubt you'd believe me if you didn't see it personally.
Panel 3
Jane is still on the defensive.
4. Jane:
Why should we believe you?

Panel 4
Pyre is on Tempora's side.
5. Pyre:
She's worked with dad before. I think she can be trusted.
Panel 5
Tempora tries to ease Jane's fears.
6. Tempora:
No harm shall come to your son, Jane Avery. The future still has much in store for him.
Panel 6
Pyre follows Tempora into the rift.

Page 7

Where are we? I don't recognize that city.
Panel 3
Tempora has an almost zen-like calmness to her.

This is India, several thousand years ago.
Panel 4
Pyre is confused.
3. Pyre:
What?
Panel 5
Tempora explains, gesturing toward the city.
4. Tempora:
The inhabitants of that city are not of this world. This is a failed attempt at colonization.
5. Pyre:
Looks pretty successful to me.
6. Tempora:
Shield your eyes. Look away from the city.

Page 8

1. Tempora:
London, 1742. Look up.
Panel 3
As we look up from ground level, a giant, cylinder-shaped UFO is hovering above the city. Splash panel, obviously.

Their drive systems are sensitive to electromagnetic interference. Up to this point, humans hadn't been able to capture one.
Panel 4
Pyre notices another pair of people off in the distance. One has a white cape.
2. Pyre:
Who are they?
Panel 5
Tempora tries to ignore the question.

The Army is on its way here.

Page 13

2. Tempora:
We should be going.
Panel 3

They move from planet to planet, plundering it of all available resources, leaving a dead husk in their wake.
Panel 3

3. Tempora:
There's more you need to see.

Page 16

This isn't Earth?

Page 17

1. Tempora:
No. This is Mars.
Panel 2
Pyre doesn't believe what he's hearing.
2. Pyre:
Mars is uninhabitable. I've seen the photos.
Panel 3
Tempora understands his disbelief.
3. Tempora:
It wasn't always like that. And if you don't stay with the Union, Earth will suffer the same fate.
Panel 4
A rift opens behind them...

Page 18

John! Are you all right?

Panel 3

I— I'm fine, mom. I've just got a lot of information to process.
Panel 4
Tempora is opening another rift.
3. Tempora:
Remember, they're vulnerable to energy, especially lightning.
Panel 5
Pyre nods as she steps through the rift.
4. Pyre:
I won't forget.

Page 19

“They” who?
Panel 2
Pyre's determined, like never before.
2. Pyre:
It's a long story, mom.
Panel 3

I need to make a few calls.

Page 20
Panel 1
Extreme Close Up of Radon's remains, which are in a lab somewhere in Nevada. At this point, we're so close we can't really make anything out yet.
Panel 2
As we pull away, we can see several instruments hooked up to the molten metal, and a label letting us know this is what's left of Radon.
Panel 3
Now we've pulled out enough to see a couple researchers in lab coats nearby, talking to one another.
Panel 4
Close up on one of the researchers.
1. Researcher #1:
So he's not dead?
Panel 5
The other one looks at an instrument readout.
2. Researcher #2:
The metal hasn't hardened, and we're still reading neural activity.

Page 21
Panel 1
The first researcher shudders.
1. Researcher #1:
Brr. Weird.
Panel 2
The other one agrees.
2. Researcher #2:
Tell me about it.
Panel 3
The researchers walk out of the lab.
3. Researcher #1:
C'mon, let's get some lunch.

4. Researcher #2:
Sounds good. I'm starving!
Panel 4

Panel 5
Part of the metal begins to extend as a tentacle-like appendage.
Panel 6
