If you mean downloading the pictures and comics from the site, a code was recently put into place to make Jab's work a little more secure
So you can't download the images if thats what you mean
Sorry and I hope this helps
Someone may be better able to explain it
This is just what I know

Yes the security measures only pertain to the latest comics. Please refer to the "Help/FAQ" section of our members area for more details (in the top menu navigation).

I think I should be allowed to have a copy of what I've paid a subscription fee for
I understand why JAB is taking steps to protect his work, I think; Exploitation right?
But do you realize that in doing so, you're charging people for eyes-only pictures?
Its like the newsstand guy flipping through the pages of a Hustler in front of my eyes--after I paid for the magazine--but not letting me take it because he says he's afraid I'll copy and distribute the pictures.
I've never heard of any website doing that.
They just stick a watermark on their pictures and consider it the best possible solution.
slicing the pictures was already too much, imo. do you think you would lose subscribers by allowing them to save the art?
I think you're hurting your subscriber base with what you're doing. If anything having a collection would make them want to add more to it.
From the beginning I thought it was laughable (like directories named *edit by Blue* ), and I've never agreed with it.
Just my opinion.
I'm going to resubscribe again to catch up on things.

Um.. I'd edit a few things above man.
Anyways, it's JAB's site. There's alot of things I'd like fixed but I've come to realize that, it's still their site and they certainly don't need advise about running a sucessful site. If they have lost significant membership due to this, I'm sure Webs would fix the issue. (PS. The files are available for Download in ZIP file)
Anyways, Webmaster announced the measure a long while back so the 'no save option' (and the debate itself) isn't something new.

I maintain my opinion that it's bad business practice and watermarks would suffice. hell, bring more traffic to the site even.
I came looking for jab and used his watermark/signature ("JAB"). <-how I got here.
I don't see anything that needs to be edited. it's a matter of opinion.

Many major paysites (example: danni.com) protect their video content and do you not allow you to save them (or view them on your pc without a pass). Since we have image content and not video, it's our images that we have to focus on protecting.
It takes alot more work to put out a piece of artwork than it does to take photos or video with a camera, and though the measures we have taken may be controversial, it has helped to limit some of the growing abuse.
Also, another important difference.. it could take a very long time and massive amounts of disk space to download/store all the content from a site like danni.com, but to download all of Jab's years of hard work would probably just take a few minutes on a fast broadband connection. This makes our business much more vulnerable to complete piracy and business loss as a result. I wouldn't have enacted such measures if it weren't for the profound negative effects noticed from growing piracy.

We support you in this decision, Master.
