New old stuff! While cleaning my room and digging through things, I found some more old artwork! Here's what is perhaps my earliest attempt at doing a comic book with my characters, from waaaaay back in 1995! Firebrand was, in fact, Pyre's second name. It was originally Inferno, which I changed to Firebrand when I found out about a company called Inferno Comix; then I changed it to Flare when I realized that DC's had a couple characters named Firebrand since the 1940s (and then released a Firebrand miniseries in 1996). Then I found out Flare, too, was taken, so I changed it to Pyre. Yeah, I know, Straczynski used the name in Rising Stars, too. But after changing the name four times, come on... besides, there's only so many fire-related names out there...

Anyhoo... here's Firebrand #1, from 1995!



The last picture on that last page was actually drawn in Feb 1997. It's not part of the comic; I was just using the blank area of the page in the sketchbook, and it fit with the comic that I'd been drawing (albeit with later versions of the costumes I'd designed).

Here's something a little more current: a work-in-progress of a new cover for Union of Heroes #1. Maybe if I kick my butt enough, I'll actually finish off the comic for a change.

Just love how you showed the evolution of the drawing!!! And it turned out beautifully!!! Awesome job Harlander and it looks like the Union is ready to whoop some serious bad guy butt... too bad. Being a badgirl myself I'm secretly rooting for the villains!!!

Yes, but not immediately. If anyone else wants to take a crack at it, though, here's a couple for use as coloring guides; the first is drawn by Bliss and the second by me, but I colored both...

I wasn't very pleased with the first color guide, so I went back and re-colored it once I found the rest of my Prismacolor markers. I need to pick up a new "Light Peach," though... it's starting to run dry...
