And so thus is the creative process!!! Great isn't it?

The simple act of making him the sibling of one of my heroes because I realized I was drawing their "energy projection" powers identically took him from one-note villain to tragic figure lashing out in rage over the wrongs he perceived had been committed against him by the world and his older brother. Deep down, he's not a bad person, but he's got some serious problems with controlling his anger, and only drastic actions will put him on a path to reconciliation... (See? I love this character!)

Just added this to the front page of http://www.bandwidthcomics.com - just a little motivator to help me make sure I make my deadlines!

Page 6 is complete! I'm nearly finished with Page 7 as well (I had a productive day), but I'm posting this first.

Also, I fixed up the http://bandwidthcomics.com web site - it looks much better and more professional now. While I was at it, I made a better version of the "coming soon" poster:

Enjoy, and please let me know what you think!

OK, one of my old friends from high school said "this must be possibly the most boring comic book ... ever"

What do you guys think? Is he right? Should I consider a rewrite? Or is he just being an @$$ who expects comics to be a four-color version of the WWE, about little else but superpowered fisticuffs? I'm about 1/3 into the comic...

Page 8 is now penciled and lettered.

//Edit: Dammit... just realized I drew their berets backwards. Uniform code says the beret flash goes above the left eye and is folded to the right...

Start off with a bang to hook your audience and keep them there with the drama. It might just be your pacing is a bit off. Perhaps sprinkle these interview segments with the action of the current roster in the present day. Just something to balance the action while telling the story. It's usually the loud noise that gets our attention, then it's the story behind the noise that keeps us interested.

Couple more additions...

I redrew the cover for the issue for two reasons: 1) I wasn't very happy with the poses and thought it could be tighter, and 2) I've misplaced the original artwork and the only scan I have isn't high enough quality for print.

I also colored Page 1 in Photoshop:

Well, I've finished the paperwork and registered my DBA, so Bandwidth Comics will now be recognized, legally speaking. Added the first of a series of articles to the web site that detail the history of my comics universe in preparation for the release of #1 - they won't be necessary to read the comic, but it's some great gee-whiz backstory to help people get into the world of the comic a bit. Check out the first article, on the 1950s, here: http://bandwidthcomi...tory-the-1950s/

Issue #1 is finished and was sent to the printer last week; it should be available for sale online soon. I'm drawing Issue 2 now... the establishing shots for page 2 are some of the best artwork I've done in a long time. I'll post a scan once I finish off the page

As promised, here's the inked artwork for The Protectorate #2, page 2. Like I said, I think it may be among my best art in a very long time.

Great job Harlander. Keep up the great work. The establishing shots are gorgeous and I can't wait to read the whole serial when you're done.

Thought I'd add a quick update here...

I've got copies of the book here. It's been printed. I met my deadlines. But the online purchase link is STILL not up. Sorry about that to everyone who wants to buy a copy; I'll give you guys a link as soon as I have one.

Here's a photo of one of the copies of issue #1 in my hot little hand: http://tweetphoto.com/17291276
