We had the graduation ceremony today for degrees earned through the Community College of the Air Force. For those of you not familiar with it, CCAF is a fully accredited institution that bestows degrees to Air Force members, typically in conjunction with their career education. I actually earned my degree back in June (when I finally was able to pass College Algebra), but this base is so small that the graduation ceremony is only held once a year. Of the two-dozen-plus graduates, all but a handful of us were senior enlisted. In fact, I was the lowest-ranking graduate this year.

The Wing Commander, Colonel Stinette, hadn't even finished turning his head to face the camera when my supervisor (using my camera) took the picture... hopefully, I'll get a copy of the picture taken by the photographer from the Communications Squadron.

Here's my diploma!
Here's a link to a news release on the subject from the base's public web site: http://www.incirlik....sp?id=123035385

The rotator back to the US doesn't fly out until Monday, but my leave started yesterday so I could sign up for a seat early (you can't sign up unless you're already on leave). My request for exemption from the 6-month time-on-station requirement for priority status was approved, so that should help ensure I get a seat.

Oh, and after the graduation, I found out that my squadron commander has his bachelor's degree in the same field I'm pursuing for my own bachelor's, Computer Engineering, so he completely understood when I said that my primary goal after getting out of the military at the end of my enlistment is to go back to school and get the classes I just can't take while still on active duty (kind of hard to do a lab class through correspondence). Once I've completed my bachelor's, I'm planning to pursue a career as a professional Scouter - basically an executive for the Boy Scouts. If possible, I'd like to finagle a position at the Transatlantic Council headquarters in Germany, which is near where I grew up.
