Here's another slice of the way we feel Ay Papi started, again back in the high school era. :>

While you may not recognize the guys, the girls may be familiar. Anyone brave enough to guess? :fap:

(hint: Check their bra sizes!) :D

One last preview ... although we're FAR beyond this!

This is part of many similar scenes in one page without panels ... a good time is being had by all!

Posted Image

We only have to touch up the cover, put the word balloons into this page which is fully colored, check everything over, and "Bob's your Uncle!"

An amazing effort from Mavruda who blithely walked into this mess 25 days ago, going through moving to a new house, the whole family down with a virus, two rounds of a Bulgarian National election (final voting as this is posted!), as well as demanding regular clients.

But I find we're both engineers by training, so we don't know any better!

It's 5AM and I'm outta here!

Cheers

Slow but steady, the trans-Atlantic team of Mavruda and fannum has made port ... not winning the race, but keeping to schedule.

We read between the lines of JAB's excellent comics and teaser hints, and here are some of our thoughts on some Ay Papi origins ... and a bit more!

Thanks Spacey,

We started with the images of plain and fugly Joe Schmidt putting it to the beauteous Claire on the beach, and questions arose. Who is this guy? Why is Claire friendly enough with him to be so friendly? And eventually, even sweet little Julia joins in the action.

With Coach Eric's involvement, a football game was a natural, and with all those lovely girls ... When we needed an opponent, MHAN provided Angus. You suggested how they hooked up ... we guess as to how they got hitched! <_<

With this inspiration, the rest pretty much strung together. I'm sure JAB has scripted this all out when he created the characters, and we'll be curious to see how close we came.

Hopefully, sooner than later.

Cheers and thanks

Frankly I'm ticked to have put so much effort into a sincere effort to create a prequel that was consistent with JAB writings. Maybe my writing sucks, but Mavruda spent an awful amount of time creating Ay Papi characters a generation back.

Thanks to the two folks who PM'd us asking about the orgy scene for a wall paper or whatever, so at least two people like the art.

I'm disappointed at the lack of discussion.

Despite the similarity in our bookkeeping dates, I've been around JAB forums since the mid-90s. Maybe I've been around too long, as once folks had more open and encouraging input, suggestions and exchange of ideas. Especially folks like Jaded Blue, Bliss, Enigma Wing, Darth BAW, Pyro, Sharpie, Diablo, Duke Nukem, D317, Alex Hiro, Cheo, Diablito and many others, including JAB and Rick Fields would frequently chime in to offer feedback.

I'm seeing more griping and impatience from the newbies than before, although the vicious flaming seems to have been put to rest. What I miss is the collegial, supportive exchanges that often led to off forum hints and friendships.

I commend Julio Sinope for his positive notes which largely held this lengthy contest together IMHO. Just look back at the threads from past contests and you'll see a lot more open exchanges and friendly opinions being expressed in past years.

I guess after putting a lot of thought into joining many (too many?) dangling threads, I'd expect something from a WTF? comment, to pointing out the error in my thinking, to outrage, but hopefully some attaboys or chuckles.

Cheers

I have to applaud your team. Both of you have put an enormous amount of effort, detail, and what feels like a lot of love and appreciation of the canon and mythology of Jabville! I myself have been dealing with a lot on my plate and have been far too busy to really keep tabs on the goings on of Jabville. I hate it when that happens but real life takes precedence. The good news is I'm emerging out of the other end of the busy tunnel and should be returning to Jabville and contribute more on the post end and of course for content! In anycase it has been slow around our beloved place and the trolling and complaining has been a wave of negativity but as longstanding citizens of Jab's we owe it to ourselves to push forward and lead by example!!! Keep doing what you do Fannum and though it may feel like no one notices at times rest assured there are those that do!!!

Thank you Harley, especially for the kind words.

While JKR seems to suggest my pique is associated with a low vote count, please re-read my comments. When so many fans spend months dissecting JAB's stories, and offering their alternatives, I'd expect some comment in this forum. While JAB's artistic skills and tantalizing stories drew us to the site, the lively riposte and asides in the forum filled in the gaps.

Many is the time that a single frame sketch will elicit up to a dozen comments, and it just seems strange that 7 fully developed cartoon stories with at least 40 sketches strung together into arcs that imagined early days of the JABiverse should fall into an interstellar vacuum ...

Cheers

I think that maybe with all the work lately, allot of us just need a breath.

As for me, I had a blast working on our comic. It was cool to work with an unknown, but impressive, talent like Wok. I'm just wondering where he's gone too since then. Still out there partner?

But I loved seeing all the different ideas that came out of this contest. Obviously, there is allot of love for JAB's characters. No matter how this ends, I'd do it all over again.
