The trans-oceanic pairing of Mavruda and fannum are pleased to announce that they are back in the fray, entering the current comic contest as "Love Haters!"

You can wrinkle your brows at the name, but check this out ... one of Mav's sources of inspirations. (fannum hopes we attract similar groupies!)

While other pressures caused Sinope to wisely back away from the building stresses, Julio had spent three months helping refine the story, and graciously allowed us to make use of his clever contributions. Make no mistake though. The art is totally from Mavruda's talented electronic pens and brushes.

The story is a prequel to Ay Papi, delving into the 80s backgrounds of high school Ricky and Claire Bear, who are pure and innocent, only dreaming of social lives, marriage and a family ... some day. It's a simple Age of Innocence tale; of Idyllic teen adventures, youthful growth and carefully nurtured development. All based on themes taken from Father Knows Best, The Brady Bunch, and other influences that shaped our lives (and a bit of JAB of thrown in!)

Look for some work in progress updates to whet your appetites.

Cheers

Many thanks Julio, and we appreciate the musical greeting and variety.

I'm amazed that so many new teams have emerged so late in the game, and the JAB fans will be the winners.

I'm delighted that you've found time to get a new partner as well, and appreciate your help suggesting me to the talented Mavruda. I think that Wrong House was your first choice, but I didn't feel as inspired by that comic.

Here is a teaser, of a color test for one of our comic frames.

Be aware this is just a test, and hasn't had shading and highlights added.

Just resist sharing insights, buddy!

I'm glad you found your Wrong House writer, Julio.

With the urging of JKR, Bliss, Sinope and more, we've decided perhaps we should seek musical inspiration. Since this prequel is set in the '80s, what better than a bit from Bobby McFerrin ...

We're feeling amazingly relaxed, and don't care about much!

Cheers

Ha! Bobby McFarrin is how my favourite comedian Adam Carolla got his start.

Bobby McFarrin breaks his leg skiing.
The morning radio sports guy said "What's a black man doing skiing"
The station maintenance man comes in and protests.
They get into an argument and have a boxing match to settle it.
Sports guy needs a trainer in which Adam Carolla volunteers.
Sports guy was K-ROCK's Jimmy Kimble.

The Man show is born!

Mavruda is not well known in this forum, but after this exposure, he'd better be!

This is incomplete, but gives you an idea what he does with some clumsy writing and ideas ...

Here's another preliminary sketch as Mavruda keeps cranking out the past history of the Ay Papi gang.

This is a fanciful perspective from the '80s, delving into family relationships and high school love... or is it vice versa?

Here's another teaser ... a preliminary version of the cover.

Now, artistic rendering aside, five of the characters depicted should be familiar to Ay Papi fans, albeit a couple decades earlier, as this prequel is set in the 80's. And the other person depicted is a parent for a current AP favorite performer. :fap:

Anyone care to hazard guesses at who's who?

Cheers

Haha. Great job. The 80's theme sounds fun.

Make sure you get some Reebok Pumps in there!

I remain grateful for your kindness in putting me together with Mavruda, and wish you well with Wrong House which really seems like your first love.

It's been a challenge to explain American football to a Bulgarian artist, and especially to convince him why we need so many cheerleaders, pep squads, majorettes, and marching bands.

Since we have just over a week left, I'm going to avoid going into our mystifying consumer fads. We've got to keep the friends we have!

Cheers
